ICannatella ist der Zusammschluss von 6 autodidaktischen Künstlerinnen aus der gleichen Familie - Geboren und aufgewachsen in Catania auf Sizilien, die Stadt am Etna. Jeder Künstlerin arbeitet mit individuellen Techniken und Ausdrucksformen. Manche Werke wiederum tragen die starke familiäre Zusammenarbeit nach außen. Obwohl einige Künstlerinnen bereits selbstständig Fuß gefasst haben, entschieden sich alle sechs Familienmitglieder 2015 dazu, gemeinsam das Label „Icannatella – Family of Volcanic Artists“ zu gründen und von nun an zusammenzuarbeiten.Techniken und Ausdrucksformen: Collage, Comic-Illustration, digitale Kunst, Skulptur, Acryl/Öl auf Leinwand, Buntstifte und Gestricktes.
***ICannatella is the label of six self-instructed artists and artisans belonging to the same family born and bred in Sicily and more precisely in Catania, the city of the volcano Etna. Each artist has developed his/hers own original techniques and arts, but some of the works are conceived by a strong collaboration between family members. Even if some of them were already active in their own artistic fields, they decided to get together and to establish the „ICannatella – Family of Volcanic Artists” label in November 2015.

ART & TECHNICSBIJOUX: Brooches and earrings representing masks of the most popular “BAD“ characters of comics and horror movies made of hand-painted black and white resin and marble dust.COLLAGE: Each collage is amazingly unique and it is made by overlapping cards, photographs, magazine and newspaper clippings that reassembled creates new dynamic worlds.COMICS ILLUSTRATION: When the comics’ language is associated with illustration, a single image or sequence of images inside one corner is generated: in here the characters interact with each other, one after another, telling a story.COLORED PENCILS: The scratchy sign of coloured pencils creates bizarre androgynous characters with flowing hair, suspended in a wonderful solitude or escorted by small animals and strange pets.DIGITAL ART: Each of these works, made in vector graphics, has a meaning that manifests itself to the eye of the beholder without effort or fury: they are full of irony, energy and brightness for all tastes.KNITWEAR: Each stole, each shawl, each scarf is a unique, sophisticated and elegant piece.PAINTING: The grilled and crochet handwork work is remarkably meticulous and extremely detailed.Shrubs, flowers and humanoid figures, geometrically and sensually stylized, are represented flowing in a vibrant celebration of colours. Various sizes, canvas in one piece, diptychs and triptychs.SCULPTURE: The materials used for these sculptures are white plaster and resin, plain or painted with full effect or spotted. The silhouettes and the sets of the subjects recall the shapes of trunks, branches and roots.
