Lick & Listen, our established format for open-minded audiences, returns with a new edition.
This time, the focus is on touch as a mediated and relational experience, with particular attention to its connection to sexual desire. Rather than centering direct contact, the program examines how touch is produced through objects, surfaces, and material interfaces.
Touch and desire are not limited to physical proximity; they are often shaped through distance, delay, and obstruction. The works in this program explore how sensation is transmitted through materials such as fabric, glass, and plastic, where objects function as active mediators rather than passive barriers.
Bringing these works together in a single screening, Lick & Listen: Touch, Extended invites to engage with touch as something that exceeds the limits of the body. It proposes an encounter in which proximity is negotiated, sensation is heightened, and desire takes shape through mediation – unfolding across images, sounds, and surfaces in ways that are both controlled and intensified.
FROM ABOVE by Alex Mendo (2025, 18 min)
“FROM ABOVE alters the usual vantage point of watching a film – placing the viewer beneath the imagery rather than in front of it. Through the translucent silhouette of two people having sex, it feels as though you’re lying just below a glass bed, witnessing a couple explore each other with intimacy and curiosity.”
OBJET #0001 by Petra Von Schatz (La Branlée, 2024, 2 min)
“OBJET #0001 : Soap for collective use, free to rotate around a wall-mounted axle.
This experimental and absurd movie is about the dreamlike fetishization of an everyday object.”
AND THEN WE TOUCH by Benjamin Egger (2021, 14 min)
“AND THEN WE TOUCH raises our awareness of the performative nature of categories such as humanity and animality and confronts us with our own needs for sensuality, touch and playfulness as human animals. The viewer becomes part of an intimate scene between two pupplayers in a living room. The close-up cinematography shows the soft touches and playful actions of two men dressed as dogs. In this cinematic essay a post-human identity performed through bodily gestures and grunts is manifested. A shimmering space opens up when the human touches the non-human.”
AGAIN by Morena Barra (2023, 6 min)
“In a sensual and experimental exploration, “J” embarks on a journey to discover the delicate boundary between pleasure and discomfort, playfully engaging with various objects through touch, temperature, and sensation. Accompanied by mysterious hands, this tactile odyssey blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, inviting new possibilities of physical and emotional discovery.”
